The program was established under the School of Business Management and Economics in 2012 in Nyeri. The program had classes taking place in Nyeri and Nairobi, before transiting to Nairobi Campus for the weekend intensive program targeting disciplined security officers.
In line with targeting the disciplined security officers, the program admission criteria allowed for admission of students at 2nd year, with evidence of disciplined service training and a diploma course for those who did not meet the direct entry Commission of University Education (CUE) criteria. However, in 2014, the Bachelor of Criminology and Security Management program curriculum was reviewed to edit the admission criteria from admitting students at 2nd year to 1st year, in a regularization process according to the Commission of University Education.
The program initiated the process of accreditation by CUE, in 2015, under the establishment of Institute of Forensics, Criminology and Security Management and was fully accredited by CUE in 2016.
Since then to date, the program has been admitting students both from the disciplined service and civic students (non-disciplined) and the admission criterion has not relied on the students’ professional background. The growth of non-disciplined students has grown exponentially to almost 40% of our intake necessitating a review of our clientele and joining criteria.
Today we are proudly admitting KUCCPS students in line with CUE standards and supporting the government in realizing 100% learners transition to university and TVET programs. We have opened doors for young KUCCPS students to come learn, grow and impact the world with our technology-based criminology and forensics learning approaches.
